Christmas 2008

I haven't blogged in awhile, as you can tell. Things are very busy around the Methvin household. We just finished celebrating Christmas x4. Of course, we celebrate Jesus' birthday in a BIG way.

We have so many toys in our house, I could open the doors and advertise as Toys "R" Us. I'm not sure where to even start! We started Christmas at Grammy and Grumps'. The boys were so excited to get Bakugan, Star Wars Voice Changing Helmets, and Webkinz to add to their collections. Landry got a Pet Shop Activity Center, Webkinz, and lots of other girlie stuff!

That quickly wrapped up and we found ourselves at MiMi & Pops' house. Dakota and Brayden got 4-wheelers which they have not stopped riding ever since. Brayden and Landry also got new Power Wheels cars. One of the biggest hits this year was the Wii...a gift to the entire family. Mommy and daddy have got their fair share of playing time too!

Santa was great this year! He brought an air hockey table, 32" plasma tv (for the Wii) and a pretend kitchen for Landry...along with other goodies!

It didn't stop there...we jetted off to MiMi Pam's on Christmas morning. The kids had a blast and enjoyed giving MiMi the calendar they made for her.

Ranch Trip

What a busy weekend we have had. We decided to pack up the new Honda Pilot and take the kiddos to the ranch for a fun-filled outdoor adventure. We invited our family friends, the Rainfords to come along with us. The kids had such a great time playing with their friends: Delaney, Mason, and Mitchell. We rode four-wheelers to the top of the mountain and looked down on the beautiful rolling hills and terain below! The kids spent most of their time digging for tadpoles in the pond and trying to catch bullfrogs (and ladybugs, rollypolies, worms, crickets, or anything else that crawled). We managed to catch a glimpse of a turkey, roadrunner, snake, and a few other prairie creatures. Brayden insisted that he was NEVER leaving, but poor Princess Landry just couldn't stand the dirt and tall brush. The weather was perfect for a bonfire and roasting marshmallows to make S'mores. It was a gorgeous weekend and we were so sad to have to pack-up and leave. I'll have to post pics soon.

Celebrating...

Most of you know that I have been extremely busy these last few years with school and it's finally starting to pay off. I took my 5-hour state principal exam last month and got the results back this morning. I passed!!!! Bless the Lord for all the guidance and answered prayers. This was a super accomplishment and a feat that I am glad is now behind me. I applied for an assistant principal position in the district I currently work for. I have made it through two rounds of interviews and found out earlier this week that I have been invited to interview with a panel of superintendents for the district. This will be the final step in my interview process. I am just excited and thankful that I have made it this far. I am super excited about what is ahead and I pray for the Lord's wisdom and guidance. I am working hard on preparing the powerpoints and essays that are to be submitted in this next step of the process. Can anyone guess what I'll be doing for spring break??? :)

Let it Snow!!

Just when we thought winter was over...what's up with all this SNOW? Who would of guessed that it would snow twice within three days in Texas in the middle of March? Boy, did the kids every enjoy it! Their eyes lit up and they raced outside. Daddy decided to let them stay up late on Monday night to play in the snow. I don't remember when I've ever seen flakes of snow this big before. They were like snowballs gently falling from the sky. Forget snowmen, Brayden was obsessed with eating every bite of snow he could find. I'm not so sure what Landry made of all of the hoopla. She spent more time by the fire than outside playing in the snow. Brayden couldn't resist making his 1st snow angel on Wednesday morning. We decided to be a little late to school and let the kids have one last chance to play in the snow before it melted. Now they both want it to snow everyday. I'm not sure I can handle another 365 days of, "Mommy, is it going to snow again today? Can I eat it?"

Joyeux Anniversaire, Mademoiselle Landry!

Landry had a splendid time at her French pink poodle birthday party! I can't believe that she is 3 already. It was quite irritating that I spend so much time preparing and getting her a poodle skirt and outfit just to watch her protest wearing it right before the party. I even started out early planning a strategy for getting her to wear the "beautiful princess dress". I though I had it made easy after she had tried it on several times before the party. You just never can be sure enough. The day of the party she started screaming and crying when we put the outfit on her. I think it was more due to the fact that we had to take Dora off to put the pink poodle on. Like any good mom would do, I resorted to bribery just to get a picture of her in the poodle skirt. I don't think we got a single one of her smiling. The poodle skirt lasted about 5 minutes, then Dora had to be put back on. I didn't want a miserable 3 year old on their birthday party day. Check out her awesome cake - thanks again Aunt Paula!

Vegas Baby!

Rob and I were so excited to finally make a trip together without the kids! We went to Vegas for part buisness and part fun. Our good friends Kathi and Brad were able to make the trip with us. Rob and I ate at MIX, a restaurant on the 64th floor of THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay. There was a breath-taking view of the strip at night. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was great. We were a little jet-lagged from the flight though. We spend most of our time walking around and checking out the sights. Rob played in his first poker tournament and ended up placing 14th. I guess that's not too bad for your first attempt. Kathi and I spent most of our time shopping, but we did manage to make it to the Improv at Harrah's. The Fix, a restaurant at the Bellagio is wonderful too and great for people watching. The pic above is me posing by the enterance to Love, the Beatles show. We had to go to M&M World and buy goodies for the kiddos too.

Happy 5 to Us!

Our 5th anniversary couldn't have been better. We're planning on going to Vegas in February to celebrate, so we just has a relaxing dinner at the Gaylord Texan on our anniversary night. How magnificant it was! Rob and I have never been to the Gaylord before, but what a hotel. It was decorated beautifully for Chirstmas and really set the mood for a night to share just between the two of us. It so great to get to spend a little time as husband and wife instead of daddy and mommy. We had dinner at the Old Hickory Steakhouse...Rob claims they are the best steaks he's ever had. It was delicious! They had the neatest tree in the lobby...check it out.
